Description	:	Henry Otterpohl was born August 4, 1933 on the family farm near Gann Valley, SD to Henry and Agnes (Larson) Otterpohl. He was baptized at Kimball Lutheran Church. He attended Victory Buffalo School and Peishing West Winge School through the eighth grade. As a young man, Ernie worked on the family farm. Later, Ernie worked in construction on Big Ben Dam in Chamberlain, SD and he helped build Interstate 90. He drove semi truck and mail truck. Ernie enjoyed volunteering at the church. Read More	Henry Otterpohl was born August 4, 1933 on the family farm near Gann Valley, SD to Henry and Agnes (Larson) Otterpohl. He was baptized at Kimball Lutheran Church. He attended Victory Buffalo School and Peishing West Winge School through the eighth grade. As a young man, Ernie worked on the family farm. Later, Ernie worked in construction on Big Ben Dam in Chamberlain, SD and he helped build Interstate 90. He drove semi truck and mail truck. Ernie enjoyed volunteering at the church. He helped Pastor Berggren by mowing the lawn for the church. He also mowed and cared for the Norwegian Free Lutheran Cemetery in Pukwana. While Ernie was driving the mail truck near Sioux City, Iowa, he met Linda Benson while she was working at her family’s restaurant. They were married on June 29, 1979, at New Home Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Ernie and Linda lived in Davison County throughout their 37+ years of marriage. When they moved back to Mitchell, Ernie worked as a mechanic and attendant at several gas stations until retiring in 1985. Ernie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Otterpohl, and daughter, Emma Otterpohl; two sisters: Adelaide Maiden and Ramona Wendelboe; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas; parents, sister, Lois Sweet; nephew, Calvin P. Sweet; nephews-in-law, David Wendelboe and David McBrayer. - Bittner Funeral Chapel
