Description	:	Ernest I. Benedict, 88, of Anamosa, formerly of Monticello, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in Silvercrest of Anamosa following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, by the Rev. Al Polito Jr. and the Rev. Ivan Benedict. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery. Ernest Irving Benedict was born Sept. 29, 1917, on the family farm near Monticello. He was the son of Royal and Grace Darrow Benedict. He attended Cass No. 6 School in rural Monticello and Monticello High School until he was needed at home on the farm. On March 24, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lola Long. They made their home on the Benedict family farm in Cass Township. In 1978 Ernest and Lola were recognized as owners of a Century Family Farm.
