He had worked at the Harlan Post Office for 26 years and was the Postmaster at the Shelby Post Office for nine years retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 1999; his parents and two brothers, Rich and Bob Lefeber. He is survived by three sons, Dennis Lefeber of Omaha; Ronald (Leann) Lefeber and Keith (Kelly) Lefeber, all of Harlan; five grandchildren; two sisters, LaVonne (Paul) Jensen of Council Bluffs and Margie (Ray Dean) Gordon of Arion: two brothers, Russell (Dorothy) Lefeber of Harlan and Gene (JoAnn) Lefeber of Portsmouth; two sisters-in-law, Stella Lefeber of Portsmouth and Irene Lefeber of Portsmouth. and other relatives. A memorial Mass was held May 25, 2002, at St. Michael's Rosman Center with Rev. Jack McClure celebrating. Inurnment of the cremains was in the Harlan Cemetery with military rites by the Harlan American Legion. Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home in Council Bluffs in Large of arrangements.
