Description	:	WATERTOWN - Ernest N. Pesicka, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009 after a lengthy illness at his home in Watertown. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes, SD with Brother Martin Zatsick, TOR officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes, SD. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3239 and American Legion Post#10 in Lake Andes, SD. Visitation will continue at the church in Lake Andes on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Travis Pesicka, Justin Pesicka, Bruce Antijunti, Brock Antijunti, Chad Ohman, Cody Ohman, Sean Rue, Tad Heaton, Brandon Swenson and Lance Swenson. Ernest Norman Pesicka was born on October 7, 1927 to Peter and Rose (Thaler) Pesicka at home in Lake Andes, South Dakota. He married Georgean Niehus on December 6, 1950 at Lake Andes. The couple had ten children. Georgean passed away on August 25, 1988. Ernest farmed with his father before entering the U.S. Army on February 16, 1946. After he returned from the Army, he farmed an additional three years. He moved to Pierre to work on the dam for three years. He then went to work with Dave Gustafson Construction as a foreman of an asphalt crew until he retired in October of 1990. Ernest enjoyed playing board games, fishing with his kids, and going to outdoor movies with his family. He also enjoyed traveling and always planned to travel with his wife after he retired. Later on he enjoyed going to the VFW, American Legion, and Dakota Sioux Casino to dance, listen to music, gamble some, and most of all, visiting with friends. He could talk for hours about everyone he ever worked with and met on every road project he had a hand in building in South Dakota. Ernest had a memory to the end like no other, and he could remember every person, place and road that he worked on, telling stories about what happened on each one. He loved his work, his employers and everyone he worked with, and loved being outside doing a hard days work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgean; his parents; his son, Dennis Dwayne Pesicka; his daughter, Gaylene Pesicka; and his brother, Leonard Pesicka. Survivors include his sons, Randy (Kathy) Pesicka of Rapid City, SD, and Ernie (Karen) Pesicka, Jr. of Springfield, IL; six daughters, Connie (Rick) Hartley, Rhonda (Greg) Ohman, Sue (Gordon) Bertsch and Twyla (Rob) Fjerstad all of Watertown, Cindy Rue of Goodwin, SD, and Roxy Swenson of Wentworth, SD; three sisters, Ruth (Ken) Dvorak of Wagner, SD, Arlene (Bill) Kocourek of Tyndall, SD, and Mary Jane Ives of New York; his brother, Gary (Caroline) Pesicka of Sioux Falls, SD; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
