Services were Saturday at Faith Community Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Paul Smalley officiating. Burial was in Ida Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion McNamara-Moore Post 61. Born Oct. 15, 1922, in Corwin Township, Ida County, Iowa, Ernest Oren Stauffer was the son of Samuel and Nellie (Alexander) Stauffer. He attended Ida Grove schools, graduating with the class of 1940. He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On June 7, 1945, he married Ardis Stamp of Galva, Iowa, in Sioux City. He was engaged in farming west of Ida Grove for nearly 40 years. In 1987, he and Ardis made their home in Ida Grove. Later, he had a great working relationship with the Tom Stewart family, Holst Paint Company, United Builders and C.L. Enterprises. His special interests included cattle feeding, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Ardis; two sisters, Leona Stewart of Ida Grove and Nellie Joyce Helkenn of Correctionville, Iowa; and a brother, Dale (Betty) Stauffer of Ida Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Rabe and Vera Mae Bugge; and two brothers-in-law, Harlan and Wilbur Stamp.
