Description	:	Ernest Reynolds Norton, son of James T. and Belle Miller Norton, was born in Newell, Iowa, on November 3, 1887. He grew to manhood in Newell, and received his elementary and high school education here. Later he attended Grinnell College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree with the class of 1910. In August of that year, following the death of his father, he became actively connected with the bank in Newell of which his father had been president. From that time on he was active in bank work. He grew to manhood in Newell, and received his elementary and high school education here. Later he attended Grinnell College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree with the class of 1910. In August of that year, following the death of his father, he became actively connected with the bank in Newell of which his father had been president. From that time on he was active in bank work. On Sept. 8, 1915, he was united in marriage to Lilian Holden, daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. James Holden of Newell. To this union were born four children: one daughter, Elizabeth, and three sons, James, Reynolds, and John. Besides his wife and children. Mr. Norton is survived by three sisters: Miss.Fan and Miss Ruth Norton of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Carolyn Krebs of Quincy, Illinois., and two brothers, DeWitt A. Norton of La Junta, Colo., and James Edgar Norton of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Marian Winters of Chicago, Ill., preceded him in death. Mr. Norton came to Peterson as active Vice President of the First National Bank in April of 1936. His family moved there in August of the same year, and made the community their home. Mr. Norton was a member and trustee of the First Congregational Church. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a Past Master.
