Description	:	A youth from the CC Camp here was fatally injured early yesterday morning while riding on the running board of a motor car, which was side swiped by another car. The youth died about 8 o'clock yesterday morning in the Spirit Lake hospital, only about ten minutes before his mother was able to get here from Early, Iowa where she lives with a daughter. The youth died about 8 o'clock yesterday morning in the Spirit Lake hospital, only about ten minutes before his mother was able to get here from Early, Iowa where she lives with a daughter. The young man was Ernest Stokes, 18 years old, of Early. He came to the camp here July 2. His father is dead. His mother is Mrs. Elsie Bell Anderson. The accident happened after 1 o'clock yesterday morning on High 71, opposite Maywood. Some of the boys at the camp had been granted leave to attend an American Legion dance in Arnolds Park. Stokes and another lad, hitch hiking back to the camp were given a ride by George Fuller of Sioux City. Both boys rode on the running board, one on each side of the car. Stokes was on the inside. On the highway opposite Maywood, a car going north side-swiped the Fuller car, damaging the entire left side and mangling the youth's left leg. The boy was torn from the car and thrown on the highway. The other car kept going. It undoubtedly was damaged considerably. The matter has been given to the authorities, who are looking for the hit and run driver. The boy was brought to the Milford hospital after the accident by the Sioux City man and the camp physician called. Stokes was later moved the the Spirit Lake hospital, where he died. The immediate cause of death probably was due to shock and hemmorage, it was reported.
