Description	:	Ernest Volkmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Volkmer, was born May 11, 1894, in Otoe County, Nebraska. He passed away July 10, 1963, at Geneva at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 29 days. Death followed an illness of several months. In 1902 he moved with his parents to a farm near Shickley in Fillmore county, where he grew to manhood. May 25, 1920, he was united in marriage to Emma Reinsch in St. Joseph Church in Geneva. He passed away July 10, 1963, at Geneva at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 29 days. Death followed an illness of several months. In 1902 he moved with his parents to a farm near Shickley in Fillmore county, where he grew to manhood. May 25, 1920, he was united in marriage to Emma Reinsch in St. Joseph Church in Geneva. Eight children were born to this union. They lived on the farm known as the Nick Longly place near St. Mary (Turkey Creek) Church near Shickley until the spring of 1924 when they purchased a farm near Martland where they lived until the fall of 1959. At that time they moved to Geneva. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Emma; six sons, Ervin of Exeter, Kenneth, Roger and John of Hastings, Merlin of Shickley and George of Geneva; two daughters, Delores of Omaha and Mrs. William (Eunice) Chitwood of Newfoundland; two brothers, William of Hastings and Adolph of Fairmont; three sisters, Mrs. Eda Reinsch and Mrs. Hattie Kamler of Geneva and Mrs. Adeline Rosenquist of York; 26 grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Joseph Gergen of Geneva; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Volkmer of Nebraska City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herman Volkmer; and a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Gergen. The Rosary was recited Friday, July 12, at 8 p.m. at the Kritner-Farmer funeral Home in Geneva. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Geneva with Rev. Paul Ulenberg officiating. Pallbearers were Alfred Gergen, Donald Grote, Linus Kamler, Clarence Reinsch, Elmer Reinsch and Leonard Reinsch. Interment was in St.Joseph Cemetery at Geneva.
