Clark, 85, a lifetime resident of Chelan, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Regency Manor Convalescent Center. He was born Dec. 4, 1914, at Chelan, the son of George and Rose (Cole) Clark. He graduated from Chelan High School where he was a charter member of the FFA chapter. He continued his education and graduated from Washington State College in 1936. At that time, he returned to Chelan where he farmed in Union Valley and the Boyd District. Ernest joined the U.S. Army in September of 1942, and served in Italy during W.W. II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Chelan to resume farming. In July of 1946, he married Beatrice (Betty) Henderson. They lived in the Boyd District, where Ernest continued to farm until his retirement. His favorite activity after retirement was reading. Community service was always part of his life. He was a charter member of the Chelan Grange. For several years, he was a member of the Chelan School Board and served on various county boards and committees. He was an active member of the Chelan Seventh-day Adventist Church and served the church in many different ways. Survivors include a daughter, Rose Clark of Buckley; three sons, Paul of Tokyo, Japan, David and his wife Linda of Chelan, Bill and his wife Angell of Chelan; one sister, Lavina St. Luise of Seattle; one brother, David and his wife Eleanor of East Wenatchee; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Leslie. Services of Commemoration will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at 1 p.m. from Precht Rose Chapel. Committal service and interment will follow at Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon. Memorials may be made to the Chelan Seventh-day Adventist Church, PO Box 759, Chelan, or to the Friends of the Library. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
