Read More	Nevada Journal, Erville Marion Bowers, 69, of 621 7th St., Ames, Iowa, died Wednesday March 13, 1985, at his home. Death was due to heart failure. He was born March 27, 1915, at Colo, Iowa to Albert and Inez Check Bowers. He attended the Colo schools and graduated with the class of 1932. On May 30, 1971, he was married to Eileen Brouhard of Ames at San Jose, Calif. He had lived at Colo, Iowa, rural Collins, Iowa and Ames, Iowa. Mr. Bowers managed the grain elevator in Colo prior to World War II. He served with the US Army in the European Theater during World War II and was awarded five Battle Stars. He returned to the Collins community area and was actively engaged in farming for 20 years. He retired from the Animal Disease Center, Ames Laboratory, in 1979. He was a member of Calvary Methodist Church, 24th and Hoover, Ames, and of American Legion Post No. 37, Ames. Survivors include his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Sharon Thompson of Maxwell, Iowa, and Karol Waterhouse of Collins, Iowa; a sister, Beverly Shaw of Des Moines, Iowa; a nephew, Joe Shaw; a grandson, Bill Jr., and two granddaughters, Tammy and Tracy Waterhouse, He was preceded in death by his parents. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Ryan Funeral Home on Lincoln Highway in Nevada, with Rev. Basil Grimes officiating. Private graveside services will be held Saturday, March 16, at Colo Cemetery, Colo, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Forbes of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ames, officiating. An American flag will be presented by Ames American Legion Post No. 37 Friday evening. The family will be at the funeral home Friday evening to receive friends until time of the prayer service. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Methodist Church, 24th and Hoover, Ames. They will be held in trust until their dedication is decided at a later date.
