Stutt of Monticello died Monday, August 30, 1999 at this home following an extended illness Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three children; Kathy (Gary) Evarts, Manchester; Kristy (George) Manternach and Russell Stutt, all of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Josh, Joe, Tom, Jennifer, Kyle, Holly, Kelsey; a brother, Leonard (Joyce) Stutt and a sister Alice Steenhoek, both of Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kenneth on May 17, 1987, an infant sister and brother, and three brothers, Elmer, Louis, and Leo. Ervin George Stutt was born Aug. 8, 1926 in Wayne Township, Jones County, the son of George and Tholetta Tholen Stutt. He received his education in the Wayne Center School. He served in the United States Army during the Korea War. He later operated a livestock trucking business. On October 19, 1952, he and Dorothy Husmann were united in marriage at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple started farming in 1958 near Amber. They farmed until 1982 when they moved to Monticello. He was employed for several years as a bus driver for the Monticello Community Schools. Stutt was a lifelong member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and had served on the Church Council.
