Buechler, 87, of Aberdeen died January 25, 2018 at his home. Ervin "Blackie" H. Buechler, son of Henry and Margaret (Opp) Buechler was born January 6, 1931 at Bowdle, SD. He attended school in a country school and worked on the family farm northwest of Bowdle. Blackie entered the United States Air Force in 1948 and served at Eglin AFB in Florida and the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned to Bowdle. Blackie was united in marriage to Delores Reuer on January 8, 1953 at Bowdle. They made their home northwest of Hoven where they farmed. In 1966 they moved to a ranch west of Lowry, SD where they ran a farm and dairy operation until 1984. They later moved to Aberdeen where he worked for Brown County Highway Department, retiring in 1996. Blackie enjoyed playing cards, hunting, polka music and dancing, but, he especially liked family gatherings and his family was very important to him. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared Blackie's life is his wife of 65 years, Delores; seven children, Arlie Buechler of Aberdeen, Debra (Dave) Pfitzer of Aberdeen, Carrie (Brad) Westphal of Lincoln, NE, Becky (Tim) Ruzsa of Selby, SD, Leslie (Rick) Young of Thornton, CO, Sandra (Richard) Hageman of North Pole, AK and Jerry (Patricia) Buechler of Bath; sisters and brothers, Eleanor Gross of Aberdeen, Ella (Verlyn) Stutz of Rapid City, Calvin Buechler of Bismarck, ND, Wilma Wolff of Aberdeen, Leo (Julie) Buechler of Litchfield, MN, Linda (Jimmy) Toller of Texas and Deanne (Richard) Weber of Aberdeen; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
