He departed this life on March 18, 1988 in Aurora, Nebraska. Ervin was 62 years, 6 months and 12 days. He was the fourth of six children. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Polk, and was a life long member of the church. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Day School and Hordville High School. He served in the United States Army and after being discharged began farming in Hamilton County. He was united in marriage to Lena Mae Baack on November 23, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Polk. To this union two sons were born, David Ervin and Paul Anthony. Ervin was a life long Hamilton county farmer and served on the Hamilton Co-op Board, Hordville Co-op Board, Hordville School Board and numerous church offices. Ervin loved his farming life, his family, friends and most of all his Lord. Survivors include his wife, Lena Mae; son, David and his wife Betty; son Paul and his wife Jean; four grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Melissa and Laura; four brothers and one sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Anna) Driewer, Carl, Herbert, Clarence and Lorence; nieces; nephews; relatives and many dear friends. Services were Monday, March 21, 1988 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Polk. The Rev. James Eckert officiated. Ervin's niece, Ann Blase, was the organist. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art", "Abide With Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Pallbearers were Fred Blase, Robert Driewer, Douglas Blase, Marvin Louthan, Bill Wallace and Dennis Baack. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran church cemetery.
