Description	:	Ervie J. Nedreau was born in Buchanan county, Iowa, August 24, 1881 and departed this life March 13, 1914, aged 24 years, 6 months and 10 days. He lived with his parents on a farm till he was 12 years at age when they moved to Lamont and about three years ago when they came to Oelwein their present home. About this time Ervie began firing on the C. G. W. and continued to work in this capacity until he met his death in a wreck at Stanley. Nedreau was born in Buchanan county, Iowa, August 24, 1881 and departed this life March 13, 1914, aged 24 years, 6 months and 10 days. He lived with his parents on a farm till he was 12 years at age when they moved to Lamont and about three years ago when they came to Oelwein their present home. About this time Ervie began firing on the C. G. W. and continued to work in this capacity until he met his death in a wreck at Stanley. March 13, when the engine he was firing went into the ditch, killing him instantly. He was a young man of a happy and sunny disposition and made many friends wherever he went. He graduated from the Lamont high school, with the class of 1908. He was converted in the Tabernacle meetings held in Oelwein in the spring of 1913 and from that time on lived the changed life. He loved the company of his home folks where he spent his time when off duty. Seldom was he seen on the street except when in the company of some of the family. When he was called to go out on his last run. although it was not his time out, he responded to the Yard Master, "Here am I send me." and when he left home that evening he said ''Goodbye Papa; Goodbye Mama; Goodbye Ethel and Mable, little thinking that it would be the last fare well from those whom he loved so dearly. He was held in high esteem by the railway Firemen and Engineers. In his death the company has lost one of their best firemen, and his family a loving son and brother. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Hose Nedreau, and two sisters, Ethel nnd Mable, besides a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted in the Baptist church by his pastor Rev. A. H. Nickell, Monday afternoon, March 16th, at 2:00 o'clock. The edifice was packed to capacity, many being turned away for lack of room. This with the long concourse of people who followed to the cemetery attest the high regard in which Ervie was held by the community. Sympathy is expressed to the family in their sorrow.
