Ervin Louis Harre was born on January 26, 1934, the son of Elmer and Florence (Meyer) Harre in Rhodes, Iowa. He graduated from Laurel High School. Ervin married Margaret Yantis on March 22, 1952. They were the parents of three children, Deborah, Steven, and Kristine. Erv enjoyed his career working on his farm for many years, which included caring for livestock, and dairy and crop farming. Over the years Ervin was a member of the Laurel Lion's Club, Marshall County Fair Board, Marshall County Pork and Dairy Producers, Farm Bureau, and Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. He was a DeKalb dealer for over 55 years. Ervin enjoyed attending auctions and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed traveling, buffets, and trips to the casinos. He is survived by his children, Deborah (Richard) Ray of Marshalltown and Kristine (Mike) Hauser-Everts of Gilman; three grandchildren, Travis (Lory) Harre of Gilman, Raymond (Tracy) Hauser of Rhodes, and Maggie (Jared) Klotz of Knoxville, Tennessee; three step-grandchildren: Kellie (Jack) Shepard of Searsboro, Iowa, Kevin (Donna) Ray of Montezuma, Iowa, and Kary Ray of Norway, Iowa; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Bonnie (Jay) Goodman-Coble of Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Florence; wife, Margaret; a son, Steven; and two brothers, Larry and Earl Harre. Source: Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown.
