Description	:	Ervin Peter Nielsen, age 88, of Early, Iowa, passed away November 17, 2010 at a Sioux City nursing home in the company of his loving wife. Ervin was born October 26, 1922 in Bloomfield, NE, the son of Peter and Mary (Cohrt) Nielsen. The family resided in the Battle Creek area, where Ervin attended public school in Arthur. The family later settled in Early. He was inducted into the Army on May 4th, 1943, serving in World War II. He was honorably discharged on July 2, 1943. Read More	Ervin Peter Nielsen, age 88, of Early, Iowa, passed away November 17, 2010 at a Sioux City nursing home in the company of his loving wife. Ervin was born October 26, 1922 in Bloomfield, NE, the son of Peter and Mary (Cohrt) Nielsen. The family resided in the Battle Creek area, where Ervin attended public school in Arthur. The family later settled in Early. He was inducted into the Army on May 4th, 1943, serving in World War II. He was honorably discharged on July 2, 1943. After his honorable discharge, he found employment at the Payless Cashway Lumber Company in Early. He married Rose LaVonne Rubendall on September 2, 1945 in Sac City, IA. He remained at Payless Cashway for 43 years until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and being with his grandkids. He also enjoyed horses, gardening, and entertaining little kids. Most importantly, Ervin enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Early United Methodist Church and Early Methodist Men's Group. He was very involved with the church and served as an usher and communion steward for many years. Ervin is survived by his wife of 65 years: Rose; a son: Wayne and his wife Colleen, Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister: LaVerne Warner, Lakefield, MN; three sister-in-laws; two brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters. Memorials may be directed to the family.
