Tilley Miss Esmeralda Brown, who died Wednesday in her seventy-first year, was a daughter of the late Joshua C. and Jane Brown, who were residents here many years ago, after living for different periods in the far west. She had lived here several years, with her sister, Mrs. Herbert C. Tilley. Mrs. Nebraska B. Tilley, widow of Abram A. Tilley, who died last July was also a sister, and another was Miss California Brown, who married Daniel M. Chase of Middletown. A brother, Joshua C. Brown, lives in the West. The late Joshua Brown was one of the Western pioneers, a Forty-niner, who traveled across the country in a covered wagon. He named his daughters Nevada, Nebraska, California, after the states in which they were born.
