Alden, age 88, of Westview Drive, Jefferson, Ohio, died early Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, at his residence after a hard fought battle suffering with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born July 27, 1922, in Meshoppen, Pa., the son of George and Grace (Blizzard) Alden and had lived in the Jefferson area most of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II, spending five years overseas. Mr. Alden married the former Dorothy M. Kyle in St. Louis, Mo., celebrating 65 years of marriage this year. He was a retired employee of the RMI plant. He was a member of Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 33 years and was very involved in many church activities. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Kathleen F. (Edward) Holstein of Jefferson; and a grandson, Terry Holstein of Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17th, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Pastor Rod Kincaid, of Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, and Pastor Shirley Deemer, of Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Mentor, will be officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, prior to the Service, at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, 55 E. Satin St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047 or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or at www.IMOTree.com, envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
