Description	:	Mrs. Estene (Cole) Leap, age 95, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 17, 1923, in Ohio County, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, Ottie and Lelia (Sigmon) Cole. She was raised in Switzerland County most of her life where she attended the Vevay High School. Estene was united in marriage on July 3, 1939, in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late, Joseph E. Leap. Read More	Mrs. Estene (Cole) Leap, age 95, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 17, 1923, in Ohio County, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, Ottie and Lelia (Sigmon) Cole. She was raised in Switzerland County most of her life where she attended the Vevay High School. Estene was united in marriage on July 3, 1939, in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late, Joseph E. Leap. This happy union was blessed with five children, Myra, Cleo, Rita, Gerald and Larry. Estene and Joseph shared nearly 40 years of marriage together until he passed away on March 4, 1979. Estene was a former employee for the Historical Society at the Museum in Vevay, Indiana, for 10 years and for Brad's Furniture in Vevay, Indiana, for five years. She was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Ladies Auxiliary, Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary and the Switzerland County Historical Society. She attended the New Life Fellowship Church in Vevay, Indiana, Long Run Baptist Church in Moorefield, Indiana and the Concord Community Church in Patriot, Indiana. Estene will be remembered for her love of gardening, reading, raising birds, genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Estene passed away with her loving family by her side at 9:10 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Estene will be deeply missed by her daughters, Myra Spoores and her husband: Larry of Vevay, IN, Rita Griswold and her husband: Steve of Madison, IN and Cleo Detmer and her husband: Albert of Patriot, IN; her son, Gerald Leap and his wife: Norma of East Enterprise, IN; her grandchildren, Jennifer Sproles, Cassie Baker, Calvin (Crystal) Leap, Dale Dixon, Jr., Tony (Anna) Spoores, Allen (Michelle) Detmer), Angela (Mike) Rutledge, Keith (Nicole) Black and Chris Tobias; her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Laura, Joe, Kathe, Codey, William, Patrick, Logan, Allison, Alisha, Amber, Sage, Gage, Jessica, Megan, Moriah, Tyler, Ciera, Cassandra, Caleb, Coren, Alyssa, Kohen, Kendall, Desiree, Timothy and Baxter; her great-great-grandchildren, Akiria, Kayia, Ethan, Sadie, Joryden, Ryliegh, Jayden, Emmet, Brayson, Malaya, Domani, Sadie, Addison and Avery; her sister, Cleo Tichenor of Connersville, IN and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottie and Lelia (Sigmon) Cole; her husband, Joseph E. Leap, died March 4, 1979; her son, Larry Leap, died January 11, 2001; her grandson, Mark D. Leap, died January 27, 2005 and her brothers, Lloyd, Theodore and Ulia Cole. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 2:00 pm, by Pastor Larry Spoores at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
