IKE Esther Ann Ike, daughter of Jasper and Martha Newlan was born December 4, 1868, in Lovington, ILL., and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ethel Smith, in Seymour, Ia., Novmeber 12, 1953. IKE Esther Ann Ike, daughter of Jasper and Martha Newlan was born December 4, 1868, in Lovington, ILL., and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ethel Smith, in Seymour, Ia., Novmeber 12, 1953. At the age of 84 years 11 months and eight days. At an early age she moved with her parents to Calloway, Neb. In 1886, she was united in marriage to William L. Ike at Broken Bow, Neb. Ten children were born, Ben Ike of Hanford, Calif., Arthur Ike of Grand Junction, Colo., Vesta Hills of Westphalia, Ida Corsaut of Salina, William Ike, Mary Welshaar and Leonard Ike of Abilene and Ethel Smith of Seymour, Ia. She was precede in death by her husband on December 14, 1928, two daughters, Mattie Manson of Leroy on Dec. 15, 1926 and Blanche Ike who died in infancy. She made her home in Abilene since 1918 but for the past six and a half years she had lived with her daughter in Seymour. With her eight children she leaves 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers and other relatives. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, November 16, at the Tufts-Danner Funeral home. Burial was in the Abilene cemetery.
