Dye, died Sunday at the home of her daughter and funeral services took place at the home Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The body was then taken to Springville, where burial was made in her family lot, after further services. Mrs. Ellis was born July 19, 1843, in Ohio, the daughter of Joseph Balderson. At seven she came with her parents to Iowa in a covered wagon, and it took them four weeks to make the trip. The crossed the Mississippi at Muscantine, and spent the winter of 1850 at Muscatine. They moved to Linn county in the Spring of 1851, and lived there till Mrs. Ellis came to Swea City in 1920 to live with Mrs. Dye. Mrs. Ellis was first married to Daniel Doan March 11, 1860, at Springville, and the children are Lucinda D. Reiger, Lisbon; lavina I. McElheney, Cedar Rapids; Elmer E. Doane, Seattle; Minnie A. Dutcher, Central City; Ida M. Reardon, St. Anthony, Idaho; and Mrs. Dye. On December 30, 1900, Daniel Doan died, and on November 8, 1904, Mrs. Doan married Levi Ellis, of Mt. Vernon, and for a while they lived at Mt. Vernon, later moving to the Doan farm north of Springville, and lived there till the death of Mr. Ellis. For a number of years after his death she maintained the home on the farm, but finally gave this up and lived in turn at Springville, Lisbon, and Marion, till she came to Sea City.
