Esther Eleonora Hanken, a resident at the Senior Home in Monticello the past six years, died at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids Nov. 26, following a few weeks illness. She was born near Langworthy Aug. 10, 1902 the daughter of Behrend R. and Wilhelmina Stadtmueller Hanken. She had received her early education in the school near the place of birth and the Monticello High School. Following her education, she taught in the rural schools of June County. After the death of her father she returned to the home farm near Langworthy to assist her mother and brother. Following their deaths, she moved to Monticello in 1959. Esther Hanken was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Monticello her entire life. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Reuter of Monticello; three nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, john and three sisters, Clara Schuetz, Augusta Jacobs and Anna Hanken. Casketbearers were Paul Schuetz, Eric Wahl, David Jacobs, Tom Reuter, Steve Nagel and Gary Nagel.
