Description	:	Esther Frances Gilley, 97, of Central City died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Long Term Care in Central City. Esther was born July 3, 1914, at home near Farwell to John and Mary (Rozmiarek) Wolinski. Esther received her education in rural Howard County School and at St. Anthony Parochial School in Farwell. Read More	Esther Frances Gilley, 97, of Central City died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Long Term Care in Central City. Esther was born July 3, 1914, at home near Farwell to John and Mary (Rozmiarek) Wolinski. Esther received her education in rural Howard County School and at St. Anthony Parochial School in Farwell. After completing her education, Esther went to work for Elsworth Greenhouse in Grand Island. On July 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Robert Gilley. They began their married life farming the Gilley family farm and helped to care for Robert's parents. In 1968, they moved into Central City and for the next year, Esther helped to care for several of their neighbors. In 1969, she went to work in the cafeteria for the Central City Public Schools. She retired in 1979, but continued to work in the school cafeteria as a substitute. They lived their entire married life in the Central City area. Robert died on March 8, 2005 and Esther continued to live at home until moving to Long Term Care several months ago. Esther was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City and the Rebekah Lodge in Grand Island. She volunteered at the Hospital Thrift Shop and Long Term Care for many years; she enjoyed playing cards, flowers, and crocheting and embroidery work. Those left to cherish her memory are her nephew and his wife, Lyle and Marla Geiger of Central City who were also her caretakers; and several other nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brothers, Anton, Leo, Alois, Stanley and Edward Wolinski; and sisters, Anna Waltman, Martha Zurek, Maggie Lempke, Helen Geiger and Clara Kaiser. Burial was in the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on December 8, 2011
