ESTHER WEEK Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1966 at 1 P.M. from Homme Lutheran Church in Prairie City for Mrs. Esther Week who passed away at Five Counties Hospital Friday morning Pastor Knutson officiated and interment was made in Hettinger Cemetery. Mrs. Week was born April 6, 1880 in Travers County, Minn. the daughter of Peter J and Mary Knox. She attended schools, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn. She later joined Homme Lutheran Church in Prairie City. In 1907 she came with her brother John and three sisters to Perkins County where they all filed on homesteads. On Nov. 23, 1909 she was united in marriage to George Week and they made their home on her homestead until in 1935 when they moved to the Lazy H Ranch where she has since resided. Mr Week passed away in 1962. Her brother John stayed with her at her home until her death. Mrs. Week was devoted to her home and family. It was her pleasure to use her skill in needle work to crochet table cloths for her children and grandchildren, and to do other types of fancy work. She had entered Five County Hospital on Wednesday and was feeling fie when Friend called on her. A asthmatic attack during the night on Thursday caused her death. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and four sisters. Surviving are two sons, Robert and Charles and one daughter (Doris) Mrs. Murel Peck all of Prairie City, S.D. Two brothers, John Knox of Prairie City, Wm Knox of Minneapolis, Minn, four sisters, Hulda Luxinger of Kyle, Sask. Canada, Ruth Dalberg of Solon Springs, Wisconsin, Martha Richardson of Hettinger, ND and Minnie Wescott of Costa Mesa, Calif. Eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Norris Brixey and Mrs. Wilmer Bingaman and Mrs. Lewis Meyers at the piano. Pallbearers were Bruce week, Arlie Peck, Aronld Peck, John Peck, Richard Peck and Maurice West. Old friends came from various distant homes to attend the service.
