She was born June 3, 1919, in Hartington to Wilhelm Vogt and Luise Lutjens. She attended Cedar County Cheer District and two years at Cedar County Pearl Creek District rural schools near Hartington. Janssen, 86, of Madison, formerly of Randolph, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She was born June 3, 1919, in Hartington to Wilhelm Vogt and Luise Lutjens. She attended Cedar County Cheer District and two years at Cedar County Pearl Creek District rural schools near Hartington. She married Mervyn Janssen on Feb. 1, 1940, near Hartington. She farmed near Coleridge with her husband for a few years. They moved to a farm north of Randolph in 1947 and lived there until 1976. After her husband's death in July 1976, she moved to Randolph. She entered Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Randolph in 2002 and later moved into the assisted living center at Colonial Manor. She moved to Countryside Home in Madison in October 2003. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph where she was a past Sunday school teacher, a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and served on the finance board. She also was a member of a number of card clubs. Survivors include: two sons, Keith (and wife, Brenda) Janssen of Palmer and Daryl (and wife, Diane) Janssen of Omaha, formerly of Fremont; a daughter, Gloria Knapp of Madison; a sister, Mildred Sellon of Randolph; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law and two sisters. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph with the Rev. Charles Fisch officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.
