Description	:	The death certificate pictured is most likely for Esther Jane Glass Porter, despite the incorrect name. No tombstone, census, nor other record has been found for someone named Jane Elizabeth Glass Porter, and Esther Jane's birth and death dates are almost identical to those on the certificate. The informant on the death certificate is William J. Porter. Esther Jane's husband William J. Porter and her only children, two sons, were already dead. The informant on the death certificate is William J. Porter. Esther Jane's husband William J. Porter and her only children, two sons, were already dead. Therefore the informant was most likely Esther Jane's nephew, William Joseph Porter. The informant seems to have given Jane (as Esther Jane was called in the 1880 census) the incorrect accompanying name Elizabeth instead of Esther. Likewise, he gave the name Elizabeth Michau for Jane's mother when it should have been Esther Michau. Esther Jane's father was Joseph Alexander Glass. The informant gave the name of Jane's brother Robert instead. These errors are understandable considering that Esther Jane's father had been dead almost 80 years (he died just before Esther Jane was born) and her mother had been dead almost 50 years. ---- From contributor CJ: Esther Jane married William Porter, Jr. on 2 July 1882.
