Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ipswich, with Rev. Nathan Henschen. Burial follows at Morningside Cemetery, Roscoe, under direction of Miller-Huebl Funeral Home of Aberdeen. Esther Katherine Schneider was born March 10, 1916, at Beebe, S.D., to Robert and Margaret (Weber) Schneider. She grew up on their farm 3 miles east and 1 mile north of Beebe. She attended Huntley Township rural school through the 8th grade. In 1938 her family moved to a farm north of Ipswich. She cared for her ill mother until her death. She was then employed for many years at the Redfield State School until moving to Aberdeen. She continued to work as a home healthcare giver until her retirement. Esther was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was a member of the church's welfare circle and made quilts for the poor. She also volunteered to serve meals to senior citizens. She then moved to Senior Housing in Ipswich and became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Esther was able to spend many years in her apartment. She was especially grateful for the care and friendship of Vicky Ettles. Her care allowed Esther to live at home for many years. Esther enjoyed sewing, quilting, time with her nieces and nephews, playing cards with a group of dear friends and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Glad to have shared her life are many nieces and nephews and their families, two sisters-in-law, Norma Schneider and Olga Schneider, both of Ipswich. Preceding her in death are her parents; four brothers, Robert, Henry, Julius and Derwood; two sisters, Alma Schmaal and Phyllis in infancy. Honorary casketbearers will be great-nieces and great-nephews. Casketbearers will be nephews Terry Schneider, Mark Schneider, John Schneider, Joel Schneider, Scott Schneider and Jim Schneider.
