Description	:	Former Edgar resident Esther L. (Ahrens) Branstitre, 90, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, in Estes Park, Colo. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar with the Revs. Sharon Ruzicka and Ellen Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Branstitre was born July 14,1915, to William and Anna(Doering) Ahrens in Sedan. She attended Aurora, Hart and Edgar schools. She and her sister performed as the Ahrens sisters on KMMJ radio, which was picked up and rebroadcast over several agricultural states. On Dec. 16, 1936, she married Burdett "Stub" Smith, and they farmed east of Edgar. She worked at Kinnson's Grocery in Edgar for 30 years. Her husband died July 12,1961. In 1962, she married Ervin "Pink" Branstitre and moved into Edgar. In 1993, they moved to Valley to live with their daughter. In 1997, the family moved to Colorado, where they lived in Las Animas and Estes Park. Her husband died Dec. 16, 2002. She was a member of the Church of the Plains in Edgar, where she served as a deacon for six years. Survivors are one daughter, Lavona "Bonnie" Vanderveen of Estes Park; and one grandchild. She also was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Plains, the Estes Park Medical Center, pinewood Springs Community Church in Colorado, Presbyterian Church of the Rockies in Colorado or to a favorite church or charity.
