Read More	Mrs. Nora Murphy Passes in Edmonton Esther Lenora, wife of William Murphy and the daughter of pioneer Taber family, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hammer passed away in the University hospital in Edmonton on Wednesday, August 24. She had spent her entire life in the district where her father Peter Hammer was serving as a member of Taber's first town council. She was loved and respected everywhere because of her integrity and concern for her fellowmen. Nora spent much of her life serving in the capacity professionally and in the church. As in every thing she did, she gave of her whole self and there are many who can recall the privilege of sitting in her classes. In February, 1966 she was honored as the "Teacher of the Year by the students and staff of the W. R. Myers School, an honor that she so richly deserved and one she truly cherished. Another contribution that she made was in drama in school and in the church. She served as an adjudicator at many of the local school festivals. Bill and Nora were married September 22, 1934. They were blessed with four children. They first settled on the farm 4 ½ miles south of Barnwell where they lived seven years before moving to Picture Butte where they spent about three years. Then they returned to Barnwell before making their home permanently in Taber in 1947. Nora had a deep conviction of the gospel and spent many hours of service in the various church auxiliaries. She taught in Sunday School, M.I.A., was in the Ward Relief Society Presidency and was Ward and Stake Y.W.M.I.A. President. She is survived by her husband and four children and three grandchildren and three sisters, Hazel (Eddie) Price, Taber; LaVon (Pat) Malo, Bow Island and Mata (Myron) Kemper of Chin, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral services were conducted from the Taber L.D.S. Stake House with Bishop Burns Wood conducting. Active Pallbearers were: Gary Neilson, Norman Hansen, Wayne Conrad, Bernard Price, Bob Shaw, Darwin Price. Honorary pallbearers were: Bishop Cliff Pierson, Milton Iverson, William Harding, Jim Richards, Burdett Hill, Kenneth Garner.
