Description	:	Esther L. Cheney, 89, of Bennet, died on January 20, 2021. Mrs. Cheney was born April 5, 1931 to Henry & Lillian (Kumpost) Filipi in Western, NE. Esther was known for saying exactly what she thought. That was not the only way she communicated though and the second way was her true love language. Mrs. Cheney was born April 5, 1931 to Henry & Lillian (Kumpost) Filipi in Western, NE. Esther was known for saying exactly what she thought. That was not the only way she communicated though and the second way was her true love language. She spoke it with a Tupperware container on her kitchen counter all those years on the farm. Kolache, rolls and cookies don’t think you will have just one! Later, at Haven Manor it was peanut M & M’s in the glass candy dish. Today we celebrate Esther and her life. She placed her faith in Jesus as her savior years ago. Her worn Bible was a roadmap she clung to. We were all covered with her faithful prayers and for that we are so thankful. If Esther could tell us something today it would probably be something like “Don’t be crying for me, I’m finally home with Gene and it was about time.” Thank you Esther. You showed us how to live with our eyes fixed on Jesus. Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, one sister, husband. Survived by her sons, Michael (Jeanie) Cheney, Owen Cheney; sister, Pat Schwisow; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Private Memorial services will be held at the Country Bible Church with inurnment to follow in the Bennet Cemetery. No visitation, Esther’s wishes were for cremation.
