Mrs. Booth died in a Sidney hospital Monday, following several months of failing health. She was brought to the hospital June 13 when her condition became in alarming. A native of Metamora, Ill., Mrs. Booth, whose maiden name was Esther Loomis, came to Cheyenne county in 1886 to teach school. Mrs. Booth died in a Sidney hospital Monday, following several months of failing health. She was brought to the hospital June 13 when her condition became in alarming. A native of Metamora, Ill., Mrs. Booth, whose maiden name was Esther Loomis, came to Cheyenne county in 1886 to teach school. She had lived in the county continuously since that time – a resident of fifty nine years. She was married to Firth Booth, another pioneer who had come west to Cheyenne county in 1880. Together they operated one of the finest farms in this area just east of Sunol. Mrs. Booth remained on the place following her husband's death in 1910 and, with her children, had managed the farm successfully. Mrs. Booth was born in 1861 and was 84 years of age on June 2. There are eight surviving children: James, Sidney; George, Esther, Mrs. Lois Fenske, Firth and Paul, Sunol; Leah, Hammond, Indiana, and Mrs. Eunice Webb, Big Springs. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Christian church in Sidney, Rev. Ralph E. Kersey officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, in the Booth family plot. Craig Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
