Olson, 91, of Chamberlain will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 with family present from 6 to 7 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain. Esther M. Reuer was born August 16, 1922 to Jacob and Lydia (Hieb) Reuer. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 with family present from 6 to 7 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain. Esther M. Reuer was born August 16, 1922 to Jacob and Lydia (Hieb) Reuer. She attended Hieb Country School south of Reliance. Esther worked part time at the Super Crème in Chamberlain and also helped out her mother on the farm. Esther met her future husband Henry Olson at the Derby Café and they were united in marriage on October 30, 1945 at Pierre, SD. They made their home on the Olson family farm north of Pukwana where Esther raised her family and helped on the farm. When Henry's health required him to retire from farming they moved into Chamberlain. Esther was a member of the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, gathering with neighbors to play cards, and dancing on Saturday nights. Esther passed away on October 19, 2013 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 91 years. Gratefully sharing in her life are her sons Larry Olson and Linda of Pukwana and Dennis Olson and Deborah of Rapid City; two brothers Otto Reuer of Kentucky and Jake Reuer of Chamberlain, SD; two grandsons Nick Olson and Sarah of Sioux Falls, SD, and Mike Luxem and Brenda of Las Vegas, NV; and a great granddaughter Emma Olson. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Henry; a brother Johnny; infant brother Emil; three sisters-in-law Dorothy, Beverly, and Viola Reuer; and a granddaughter Tina Olson.
