While residing in DeWitt, she roomed at the home of Elmer and Anna Briggs, caring for them until their deaths. Esther was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, Grace Lutheran Women and the former Esther Circle. She enjoyed a big garden, sharing produce and baked goods with family and neighbors. She was well known in the neighborhood for her immaculate yard. When the very first leaf fell, Esther was out raking. She also loved to embroider pillowcases and towels for gifts. Esther adored her cats, playing board games and reading the newspaper every day. Preceding Esther in death were her parents; sisters, Clara Schroeder, Adelia Raab and Catherine Camp; brothers, Martin, Marius, Carl and Arthur; nephews, Clifton and Orlin Schroeder.
