She was born November 20, 1913 in Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Harry V. and Anna Smith Cowan. She married Raymond Bowles Mosier on September 29, 1931, in Uniontown, Kansas. Read More	Esther Pauline Mosier, 89, of Uniontown, Kansas died at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home, Tuesday evening, February 11, 2003. She was born November 20, 1913 in Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Harry V. and Anna Smith Cowan. She married Raymond Bowles Mosier on September 29, 1931, in Uniontown, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1987. She lived most of her life in Uniontown, except for a short time she spent in Rockville, Missouri. She attended Uniontown schools and graduated from Uniontown High School in 1931. She graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education from Pittsburg State University, in 1965. She was a school teacher for the Uniontown School District for 33 years, retiring in 1976. Following her retirement she continued to substitute teach until 1989. She began her teaching career by teaching at West Bethel, a one-room school, and then Turkey Creek, also a one-room school. During this time she taught all eight grades, kept the school clean and also built a fire each day in the coal stove. At recess time she played games, played ball, and on the coldest of winter days, would ice skate with the students. After a few years of teaching in the country, Esther began teaching in Uniontown, and was principal for a few years. She received her education by taking college courses by mail, night classes and summer school while teaching full-time and raising a family. She was a member of the Uniontown Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen R. and Gene Nuzum of Arma, Kansas, a son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. and Evelyn Mosier of McLouth, Kansas, 6 grandchildren, Lori Baker, Julie Moses, Jan Schul, Linda Bennett, Mike Mosier and Ray Mosier, and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters, Helen Cowan, Lottie McKinnis, Elsie Maycumber and Margie Perry and two infant brothers. Rev. Beverly Meadows will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at the Uniontown Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Uniontown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Uniontown Methodist Church and left in care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, Ft. Scott, Kansas.
