She died at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb., Saturday, December 10, 1994 at the age of eighty-two years. Esther was born on a farm in Charter Oak Township, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on February 4, 1912 and confirmed on April 5, 1925 in the Lutheran faith at the St. John Church in Charter Oak. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School. Kruse was born January 4, 1912, the daughter of William and Theresa Ossenkop Kuhlman. She died at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb., Saturday, December 10, 1994 at the age of eighty-two years. Esther was born on a farm in Charter Oak Township, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on February 4, 1912 and confirmed on April 5, 1925 in the Lutheran faith at the St. John Church in Charter Oak. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School. After receiving her education, Esther remained on a farm and helped her parents. On Feburary [sic] 24, 1935, she was united in marriage to Fred Kruse at the St. John's Parsonage. The couple settled on a farm in Hanover Township and were blessed with the birth of one son. They farmed together in Hanover for 41 years when Fred died in August of 1976. Esther was devoted to her Lord and Savior as a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Zion's Ladies Aid. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and caring for her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred and one sister, Marie Magill in October of 1994. Survivors include one son, Valgene and his wife, Lilith of Charter Oak; one grandson, Randy; one brother, Raymond Kuhlmann of Charter Oak and one sister, Florence Hildebrandt of Denison. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 14 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. Philip E. Bloch officiating the service and graveside rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Henry Henningsen singing, "Heaven is My Home" and "How Great Thou Art" and congregational hymn "Abide With Me". Pallbearers were Alan Kuhlmann, Ronald Paulsen, Verdean Kruse, William Magill, Wayne Elwell, Wayne Henry and Floyd Boger. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them for lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
