A memorial has been established. Esther V. Imhoff was born Sept. 9, 1930, on a farm north of Burt, in Solen Township, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Iszler) Imhoff. She attended a rural school through the eighth-grade. Esther was united in marriage to Ervin Haase on Oct. 28, 1951. They moved to Hazelton. Later they returned to the New Leipzig area where they raised livestock and farmed together until Ervin's death in February of 1998. Esther continued to live on the farm raising chickens, gardening, walking with her dog and cat, baking Christmas cookies, and making special homemade chocolate cakes with homemade chocolate frosting for their birthdays, and also everyone's favorite German dishes, and keeping her yard nice and neat. She enjoyed collecting chickens and roosters and shopping with her girls. She also enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities and spoiling them. Other hobbies included making quilts and crocheting afghan's. After being unable to stay at the farm due to her health, she enjoyed embroidering, watching the birds and squirrels, and treating and spoiling Cuddles and Ziggy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin; six brothers, Emil, twins Johnny and Albert in infancy, Johnie, Christ and Otto; and two sisters, Lydia Reich and Emma Lillethun.
