Description	:	Esther Viola Kingsbury, 102, of Ames, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Bethany Manor in Story City, surrounded by her family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, also at Stevens. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Esther Kingsbury was born April 20, 1909, in rural Ames, to James and Carrie (Springer) Lange. She attended Evergreen, Clearview and North Grant schools, all in Story County. In her early years, she worked at Woolworth's. She married Bernis Kingsbury on Feb. 16, 1939. They farmed east of Ames for many years. During those years, she also worked at Lange's Lunchbox. She loved the farm, raising animals, gardening, flowers, and her nieces' and nephews' visits to the farm. She was known for her cooking, and especially her wonderful homemade angel food cakes. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and several neighborhood clubs. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Hiserote, of Ames; and many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Katherine Kelley; three brothers, Howard "Sam" Lange, Kenneth "Bud" Lange, and infant, Everett Lange; nephew, Bob Kelley; and two nieces, Bette Ann Hiserote Houge and Nancie Jo Hiserote Fellows.
