Esther passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE. The daughter of Emil and Henrietta (Frevert) Siegert was born on January 20, 1918, Wayne County, Nebraska. Esther’s parents moved to a farm near Pilger, Nebraska. Her father, Emil, was killed in a farm accident in March of 1921. The family moved back to Wayne, Nebraska and resided with her grandparents. Esther, her mother and Ferd moved to Pilger in 1926. Esther was baptized at First Trinity Lutheran Church of Altona and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger. She graduated from Pilger High School in 1935 and Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska, in 1939. She taught Business at Primrose, NE for two years and Pierce, NE for one year. Esther married George Thompson on July 14, 1942. They farmed in Wayne County for seventeen years and moved to a farm in Cuming County in 1963 and farmed until 1968. Esther was employed in the Registrar’s Office at Wayne State College for a short time and then was appointed the Cuming County Welfare Director on September 1, 1970. She held this job until retiring on June 30, 1983. Her husband, George, died August 8, 1983. She was married to Clarence Stark on August 12, 1989. He died March 8, 1995. She married Forrest Hansen February 14, 1997. She resided at home until March 30, 2009 when she moved to the Wisner Care Center. She was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church of Altona and a member of the LWML Society. Survivors include: a son, Larry and wife Barbara Thompson of Wisner, NE; daughter Carol and husband Gerald Scott of Hington, IA; and daughter Jane and husband Mike Hart of Tilden, NE. Esther has 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Henrietta Siegert; her husband, George; her husband, Clarence; and her brother, Ferd and his wife Lorinda.
