Diesburg Dies; Leaves Husband, Children and Relatives The battle for life, for which she fought so bravely, was lost early Monday morning when Mrs. Cletus J. Diesburg passed away at St. Joseph's hospital after an illness of two years. She was only 27 years and 10 months of ago at the time of her death. Throughout her illness, she never complained. From early childhood and throughout her life she displayed a rare kindness and enjoyment in doing for others. She was always cheerful and greeted each day and each person with a smile, as she told her mother it is so much easier to smile than to do other-wise, even in the face or hardship. Ethel Charlotte Lampson was born May 8, 1917, on a farm east of Nashua, to Charlie M. and Alma (Thompson) Lampson. She attended the rural school in her neighborhood before entering high school in Ionia. On April 14, 1936, she was married in St. Michael's Church at Nashua, to Cletus J. Diesburg. Following their marriage, this young couple lived on a farm near Ionia before moving to Independence, later to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. They remained there until her failing health brought them back to Chickasaw County, where their relatives and friends lived. This was about two years ago, and since they have lived in New Hampton. It is sad indeed to think of the passing of this young wife and mother and it is sometimes hard to say to our Maker, “Thy Will be done.” Yet there is comfort in knowing she is in good hands. Those who are left to mourn her passing are her husband, her son, Cletus Jr. age 8 and daughter, Jean Marie, age 6, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hoffman, two sisters, (Nina) Mrs. Arnold Sith, New Hampton and Mildred Lampson, Charles City, also six brothers, Pvt. Charles Lampson with General Hodges First Army In Germany. John, Charles City, Russell, Wendell, Harvey Jr. and Glenn, lonla. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:00 o'clock from St. Joseph's Church. Her pastor, Rev. Fr. Frost, read the Requiem Mass and officiated at the grave service at St. Boniface cemetery, lonla, where she was laid at rest.  Her pall bearers were Claire Hogan, Carl Roths, Fred Mersch Jr., New Hampton, and Peter Fischbach, Anthony Kramer und James Lynch of lonla. -New Hampton Tribune, Page 1, March 29, 1945. -
