Description	:	Ethel Lasby Seidel was born in Wellington County, Ontario, June 16, 1878. At two years of age she came with her parents to Nebraska. On her 9th birthday her father died and her mother passed away within a year leaving 4 children, who temporarily made their home with relatives. Ethel went to live in the home of an uncle in Canada, until she was eighteen years of age. Returning to Nebraska, she and her brother and sisters made their home at Chester. She attended the Chicago Training School, graduating in 1913. She was field worker for... Read More	Ethel Lasby Seidel was born in Wellington County, Ontario, June 16, 1878. At two years of age she came with her parents to Nebraska. On her 9th birthday her father died and her mother passed away within a year leaving 4 children, who temporarily made their home with relatives. Ethel went to live in the home of an uncle in Canada, until she was eighteen years of age. Returning to Nebraska, she and her brother and sisters made their home at Chester. She attended the Chicago Training School, graduating in 1913. She was field worker for the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Topeka Branch for five years, and traveled throughout a five state area representing that work. In 1924, she was married to Rev. H.C. Seidel, pastor at Laurel. They next served the pastorate at Harvard. In 1927 they were appointed Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of the Sager-Brown Home in Baldwin, Louisiana, under the auspices of the Woman's Home Missionary Society and served in that capacity for eight years. Returning to Nebraska, they served at Jennings and Lefler Churches in Omaha, Decatur and at Purple Cane, where Rev. Seidel passed away October 24, 1947. Mrs. Seidel continued to serve the church as pastor until the close of the Conference year. She and her sister, Mrs. Minnie Blower, came to make their home in Lincoln in 1948. She affiliated with Grace Methodist Church and was active in its Woman's Society and Guild Class. She passed away May 16, 1953. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Minnie Blower of Lincoln and a nephew, Ralph Garvin of Lincoln; four nieces, Mrs. Ethel Boyer, Ingelwood, Calif., Mrs. Genevra Smith, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Kathryn Edwards, San Benito, Texas and Mrs. Mary Boyer, Chester, Nebr. Also three step-sons, Rolland Seidel of Los Angeles, S.S. Seidel of Lincoln and Gerald Seidel of Franklin, La. Funeral services were held at Steyer and Hunt Funeral Home in Lincoln, conducted by Dr. Harold C. Sandall, and interment was at Chester, with Rev. James K Irwin being in charge.
