Description	:	Mrs Robert Whittenbaugh was born Ethel Gladys Jones on November 22, 1904, the fourth child in the family of Arthur and Nancy McShane Jones in Franklin Township, Allamakee County. She attended public school of Franklin Township and graduated from Wuakon High School in the class of 1921. She attended college at Upper Iowa University and the State University of Iowa. Read More	Mrs Robert Whittenbaugh was born Ethel Gladys Jones on November 22, 1904, the fourth child in the family of Arthur and Nancy McShane Jones in Franklin Township, Allamakee County. She attended public school of Franklin Township and graduated from Wuakon High School in the class of 1921. She attended college at Upper Iowa University and the State University of Iowa. She taught in Iowa public schools at Castalia,IA., Maynard,IA., Clear Lake,IA. and Waterloo,IA. She was married to Robert G. Whittenbaugh on November 22, 1929. To this union were born three children Stella, Robert and Nancy. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church at Forest Mills, Iowa. She participated actively in community and church activities in her younger years. She was a member of the Upper Iowa University chapter of Phi Beta Phi, Wa-Tan-Ye Club, Business and Professional Women's Organization, Hannah Lee Chapter of the National Socity of Daughters of the American Revolution and various P.T.A.'s and Community Club groups. She possessed artistic albility in painting and in creative writing. She was a teacher by profession with a strong interest in education. She traveled widely throughout the United States and Canada and loved nature and the outdoors. She died after a brief illness on April 27 1965 at the palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Mildred, who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband and three children; Mrs Willard Hoing (Stella) of Berea, Ohio; Robert C. Whittenbaugh of Benton Harbor, ME.; and Nancy at home, at present a senior at U.I.U.; three grandchildren, Charles and Scott Hoing and Robert J. Whittenbaugh; one brother and three sisters, and several nephews and nieces. Interment was in Wadena cemetery.
