Description	:	Ethel Kennard, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend spent 93 wonderful years on this Earth before passing away July 24 at Central Washington Hospital due to heart failure. She was born in Council Grove, Kan., July 5, 1917 to Clara and Edgar Griffin, and lived there before coming to Wenatchee in 1934 and making this her home. She was born in Council Grove, Kan., July 5, 1917 to Clara and Edgar Griffin, and lived there before coming to Wenatchee in 1934 and making this her home. It was in Council Grove that Ethel made her profession of faith as a Christian, and was baptized in the Christian Church. She met and married Alvy Kennard in May of 1935. They celebrated 44 happy years until he passed away in 1979. They had two sons, Ronald and Garry. Ethel and Alvy moved to Cashmere in 1939 and operated an orchard up Mission Creek until Alvy retired in 1974 and they moved to East Wenatchee. Ethel also worked at Crystal Linen for many years. For the past four years, home was Colonial Vista Retirement Apartments where she loved to play bingo and pinochle with her friends. She always looked forward to her Thursday evening date with her son Garry and wife Monica; and if she had her way, it would be Kentucky Fried Chicken (hands down). Ethel was a devoted, loving person and enjoyed the simple things of life, like her garden and flowers. Her many trips with son Garry to Alaska, Kansas, Canada, Yellowstone and Glacier where she saw such beautiful scenery and wildlife, were the highlights of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvy, infant daughter, son Ronald and brother Chuck Acton. Surviving are son Garry (Monica) Kennard, grandchildren Stephen Kennard and Debbie DeTemple, many nephews and nieces. A graveside service was held at Evergreen Memorial Park July 29, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Care of NCW or charity of choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
