She was born April 8, 1930, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Talbert P. and Clara E. (Hull) Britt. She spent her childhood in Iola and on December 21, 1953, she and David M. Read More	Ethel Jean Parks April 8, 1930 - September 4, 2016 Ethel Jean Parks, 86, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, September 4, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas, where she had been for the past ten days. She was born April 8, 1930, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Talbert P. and Clara E. (Hull) Britt. She spent her childhood in Iola and on December 21, 1953, she and David M. Parks were married in Iola. Ethel had worked in a bakery and in sewing shops in Iola and Coffeyville. When she was young her family would go out of state each year and pick berries. She also broke horses. Ethel and her family lived in Monet, Missouri. Her husband, David, preceded her in death on December 3, 2000, following nearly 47 years of marriage. Following David's passing Ethel moved to Yates Center in 2001. She was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ethel was homemaker and enjoyed caring for her home and family. She took pride in caring for her lawn and flowers. She loved music and had been a member of The Old Time Pickers and Fiddlers. She also enjoyed drawing. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin, and a sister, Dixie Lee Petit. She leaves her son, Tracy Parks and wife Claudette (Berta), of Yates Center; her daughter, Davena Amos and her husband Freddy, of Monet, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Tanya, Travis, Candy, Randy, Joy, Ken, Stoney, Gary, and Stephanie; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola at a later date.
