Taylor, Sr., son of the late Grover C. and Margaret L. Richards Porter. They were married in Laurens, SC on December 22, 1933. Surviving are two sons, Arthur "Ott" L. Taylor, Jr., who they called "Sonny" and wife Sheba Barton Taylor, and Charles James Taylor and wife Alice K. Taylor; grandchildren, Beth Taylor Davis (Gary), Charles Keith Taylor (Glenda R.), Scott Arthur Taylor (fiancé, Lois Gibbs), Shane Taylor, Tonya Taylor, and the late Jason Ott Taylor; two step-grandchildren, Kathy Kemp and Earlene Medlock; great-grandchildren, Joshua Allen, Ashleigh Allen Fowler (Nick), Andrew Allen, LeAnne Taylor, Kristen Taylor, Savannah Taylor, Chase Taylor, Luke Loveless, Shane Braden Taylor, and Jayden Knight; great-great grandchildren, Nicholas Fowler, Bella Bates, Elaine Keaton, and Sidney Woodard. Ethel has a sister, Josephine Porter Turner (the late Richard), and late siblings, Mary Ann Porter, Charles Porter, Ernest "Pete" Porter (Lottie), Eva Porter Roberts (Cliff). Ethel was a member of Todd Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a 52 year employee of Laurens Mill. She began working in the spinning room at the age of 10. She had to stand on a wooden box to reach the spindle. She retired at the age of 62 and received a gold watch for her service. She was proud of the fact that Roger Milliken visited in the home on several occasions. Ethel was an avid reader, hunter, and fisherwoman. She caught several prize bass, which she mounted and displayed in her home. She had a reputation for telling it like it is and everyone knew not to ask her if they did not want the truth. We all appreciated this quality. You always knew where you stood with Ethel. Ethel's life and her ability to do whatever she set her mind to and her unwillingness to care what everyone else thought about it really left an impression on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She got her drivers license at the age of 50 and drove until she was 90. She fished, hunted, raised chickens, and gardened. She was a crack shot with a pistol, shotgun, and a rifle. She could shoot a head off of a snake at 30 feet. She was an amazing woman. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and assistants at United Hospice for their wonderful care they provided "Nanny".
