Married William Russell Salts on June 1, 1917 in Fairfield, Iowa. ------ The Fairfield Daily Journal Tuesday October 26, 1920 OBITUARY Ethel May (sic. Mae is the correct middle name) SPRY (sic. her married name was SALTS) was born in Canton, Illinois, April 8, 1891, and passed away at her home in Moline (sic. Illinois), Oct. 21, 1920, being at the time of her death 29 years, 6 months and 13 days. Her girlhood days were spent in Canton and came to Brighton, Iowa at the age of ten. She was converted at the age of eleven, and joined the Methodist church at that place, of which faith she was a devoted and untiring worker. Later the family moved to Fairfield where she attended the public schools. For a while she taught in the rural school and was afterward employed by the Telephone Company where all who knew her learned to love her. On June 1, 1917, she was united in marriage to William R. SALTS. They were in Moline for a while until he was called to serve in the World War, and was in France ten months. Mrs. SALTS returned to Fairfield where she lived with her parents until her husband returned. On October 15, 1919, they again took up their residence in Moline where they lived until the time of her death. Mrs. SALTS has been in failing health since having had the 'flu." On April 9, 1920, a son, Francis Lee, was born to them, who, with her husband and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther SPRY, a brother Elga of Charles City, with a host of relatives and friends, are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. On Friday at 4 p.m. in Moline a brief service was held. The Rev. Dodd of the Methodist church spoke the words of comfort. Her body was brought to Fairfield on Saturday and was taken to the church where the Rev. Tennant spoke so beautifully of her devoted Christian life and the willingness with which she was always ready to help in any of the church work. The beautiful flowers that were sent showed the high esteem in which she was held by all her friends. Her body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.
