Description	:	Ethel Hansen, 96, of Minden died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Bethany Home in Minden. Memorial services was held 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster United Presby-terian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Berke Landrum officiating. She was born June 1, 1910, in Kearney County to John and Sarah (Borgaard) Shannon. On March 27, 1929, she married Carl Hansen near Minden. He died in 1994. She was born June 1, 1910, in Kearney County to John and Sarah (Borgaard) Shannon. On March 27, 1929, she married Carl Hansen near Minden. He died in 1994. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Nichol of Minden and Lois Beattie of McCook; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her son-in-law, Tom Beattie of McCook, and daughter-in-law, Marlene Foglesong of Kearney. She attended Snowflake Country School until the eighth grade. She was always proud of the fact that she was baptized, confirmed and married at Fredericksburg Lutheran Church south of Minden. She and her husband lived and farmed southeast of Norman. They retired and moved into Minden in 1972. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Norman until it closed. The couple then became members of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. The church was very important to her; she was involved in Bible studies, quilting groups and ladies circles of the church. She spent many hours gardening, canning, baking and cooking. She loved to entertain her friends and family, and her grandchildren were very special to her. She also was an avid card player. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, Dick Hansen; son-in-law, William "Bill" Nichol; two sisters; and two brothers.
