Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, April 20, 1989; pg. 12 Ethel May Prachejl, daughter of Charles Walter and Nellie Mae (Pangborn) Hill, was born on a farm near Edgar in Clay Center, Nebraska, on January 25, 1899, and passed away April 13, 1989, in the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 19 days. She attended country school near Edgar and attended one year at the Edgar High School. On March 25, 1925, she was united in marriage to William Prachejl in Hebron, Nebraska. This union was blessed with five children. They lived and farmed for many years northwest of Nelson, and later moved to Nelson. After Bill's death she lived at Elk Creek Manor and for the past four years had lived in the Good Samaritan Center. Ethel had a thrist (sic) for knowledge. She spent many hours reading. She loved growing things vegetables, house plants, and spent many hours in her pansy garden. She carried the water to her garden. She traveled by maps, she would look at the map, pick a city, consult the encyclopedia and read all about the area. That's how she traveled with much enjoyment. She had a splendid sense of humor. Ethel loved being with people, enjoyed watching the birds and loved to crochet. She taught her grandson, Greg, how to knit. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bill, on November 2, 1972; two daughters, Wilma Doggett and an infant daughter Betty Prachejl; two sisters, Esther Boersma and Audrey Maxwell; and two brothers, Ralph and Clarence Hill. Survivors include two sons, Wilbur and his wife Ruth Prachejl of Casper, Wyoming, and Ernest (Everett) and his wife Doris Prachejl of Reno, Nevada; a daughter, Mary Ann Maul of Springfield, Virginia; one brother, Bob (C.R.) Hill and his wife Aline of O'Niell (sic), Nebraska; a son-in-law Oscar Doggett of Nelson; a nephew, Don Boersma and his wife Velda of Superior, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 16, 1989, at 2:00 p.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by Randy Williams, soloist, singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden" with Myrtle Worley as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Gerald Whiteley, George Drudik, Randy Williams, Gregg Maul, Arlend Maul and Dean Spath. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Hill, Maurice Hill and Don Boersma. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
