Description	:	Funeral service for Ethel N. Pfeifle, 90, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. Rev. Linda J. Schauer will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Ethel died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Ashley Nursing Home. Ethel Norma Pfeifle, daughter of Gotthelf and Katherina (Spitzer) Pfeifle was born July 6, 1927 at Venturia, ND. She was the youngest of 8 children. Ethel was baptized on August 21, 1927. Ethel died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Ashley Nursing Home. Ethel Norma Pfeifle, daughter of Gotthelf and Katherina (Spitzer) Pfeifle was born July 6, 1927 at Venturia, ND. She was the youngest of 8 children. Ethel was baptized on August 21, 1927. Ethel attended rural school at Albrights Valley School District until the eighth grade. She worked on the family farm until l961 when she moved to Ashley and was caretaker of her parents until after their death. She was employed at the Dinner Bell Café and was assistant manager and cook for Scott’s Restaurant in Ashley until her retirement in 1992. Ethel was an avid reader and very knowledgeable with a phenomenal memory – the family historian. She enjoyed gardening and was a good cook and baker. She is survived by four nephews and 11 nieces She was preceded in death by her parents (Gotthelf, 1969 and Katherina, 1975); three brothers, Oscar, Gerhardt and Cyrus; four sisters, Olga Dockter, Ida Hagel, Alma Kundert and Ottilia Dahlin; and three nieces. Casketbearers will be Jeff Melchior, David Teply, Donald Gab, David Hagel, Walter Hoffman and Michael Hoffman. The organist will be Steven Glaesmann and soloist is Vicki Melchior. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
