She was born October 19, 1914, in Peshastin, WA to Isaac Crawford and Bertie Scarbrough English. The family moved to Wenatchee in 1928, and Ethelyn has lived here since that time. Read More	Wenatchee World - Dec 6, 2006 Ethelyn Elizabeth English, 92 years, 44 days, passed away at Parkside Care Center in Wenatchee on Saturday, December 2, 2006. She was born October 19, 1914, in Peshastin, WA to Isaac Crawford and Bertie Scarbrough English. The family moved to Wenatchee in 1928, and Ethelyn has lived here since that time. She attended school in Peshastin and Wenatchee. Ethelyn suffered from cerebral palsy and was not able to finish school. Parkside had been her home since 1969. She enjoyed playing bingo and other games and participating in all other activities at Parkside. She was very proud of receiving awards for her volunteering. She loved music and playing her little keyboard. She enjoyed leading The Lord's Prayer at the Parkside church services and with anyone who wished to join her in that prayer. Ethelyn loved writing letters and keeping in contact with friends and family members. Hobbies included collecting postcards, embroidery and "paint by numbers" and she received ribbons for items entered in the county fair. She delivered The Wenatchee World to subscribers at Parkside for many years. Ethelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Homer and his wife, Alice, her brother, Fred and brother, Bob English on November 13, 2006; her sister-in-law, Ella English; and her nephew, Bobby English. She is survived by her sister, Patty and brother-in-law, Elmer Oberg of Wenatchee; and sister-in-law, Julia English of Yakima. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including, Robert E. (Delores) English of Everett, Betty Kay (Chuck) of England, CA; Beverly Jagla, Dennis (Sandra) English, Craig (Roxie) English, all of East Wenatchee; David Oberg of Mountlake Terrace, WA; Ann (Bob) Torkelson of The Dalles, OR; Margaret (Syd) France, Nancy (Sherman) Knight, all of Kirkland, WA. She was a member of Wenatchee First Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Parkside for the care Ethelyn was given, but mostly for the love shown to her by so many of them. They have been her second family. She was a special gift from God to all who knew her. Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Betts Memorial Chapel. Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkside Care Center Activities, P.O. Box 2986, Wenatchee, WA 98807 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Betts Funeral Service.
