NELSON KNIGHT PASSED AWAY TUESDAY FROM APOPLECTIC STROKE Was Daughter of the Late Justice C. A. Baxter - Funeral Services Held This Afternoon - Burial at Garwin. Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson P. Knight, who died suddenly Tuesday following an apoplectic stroke, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Knight home, north of Toledo. The services were conducted by Rev. E. H. Socwell, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, formerly pastor of the Seventh Day Baptist church at Garwin. The musical selections were furnished by a quartet composed of T. S. Hurley, S. G. Babcock, Mrs. S G. Babcock and Mrs. Stella Hess. Casket bearers were William Gallagher, Dell Shrader, Harry Van Horn, Frank Furrow, Jay Van Horn and Frank Hurley. Burial was in the Garwin cemetery. Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral services were Mr. Cora E. Eaton and son Leonard, of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. J. B. Smith of Estherville. The following life sketch of Mrs. Knight was read at the funeral services: Etta M. (Baxter) Knight, daughter of C. A. Baxter, who died June 17, 1921, and Mary J. Baxter, who died May 2, 1907, was born in Howard Township, April 16, 1867. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 56 years and 22 days. All of her life was spent in the neighborhood of her birth, which gave her a wide acquaintance among the people of the community. For a number of years she was a successful teacher in a number of different schools of the county, and in this capacity, she drew to herself a wide circle of friends, who still hold her in pleasant remembrance. In early life Mrs. Knight made a profession of faith in Christ and united with the Beulah United Brethren church, where she remained a member until the dissolution o fthe church. On March 12, 1891, she was united in marriage Nelson P. Knight, of Garwin. This marriage resulted in the birth of one child, Charles, who is still living. Mrs. Knight was a woman of marked literary ability, many of her productions being delivered in person upon public occasions, and many of them were published in the papers of the county. She was deeply interested in the welfare of her one son and his family, consisting of his wife and two children, and evinced that interest in many loving ways. Her death was very sudden and came as a shock to the entire community. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, one son, two grand-children, three sisters - Mrs. Clara Kreig, Mrs. Cora E. Eaton, Mrs. Maude Nelson, and two brothers, H. A. and Jesse Baxter. Also other relatives and numberous friends.
